Great article in The Bend Bulletin this morning: New values | News | The Bulletin. Greg Welch quoted in article on smaller homes in Northwest Crossing.

Financed Solar?

Universal design in Bend?
I feel universal design for single family homes is overlooked in Bend today. What an under-served market, especially when the boomers are getting older. I met with Susan Duncan with The ABC’s of Accessibility, Inc. at a home that was designed and built in 2008 for a gentleman in a wheelchair.
I found homes can easily be designed and built for the same cost as a normal single level home with no accessibility features.
Picked up The Visualizer Set and got to work on a few designs. Great tool.

Older build, but no curb appeal!
Efficient design, but lacks style. Why paint the house peach? Corner boards should never be painted the trim color unless it’s a tudor style home. Shutters are nice, but the porch columns need work. And the front door, why use the half circle window….it dates the house.
This home would look better with more “Georgian” elements applied. Such as a chimney or gable over front door. Maybe some dormers?
